McDonald's

Routinely dieticians, fitness freaks and/or health nuts will tell us that to lose weight one must eliminate fast foods from one’s diet. That to have any hope of shedding those precious pounds, the last thing you can do is be eating hamburgers and greasy fries.Specifically, they’re talking about McDonald’s.

McDonald’s has become the Satan reincarnate of food. Worse than that, somehow the blame for the highly-reported statistical rise in Western obesity, particularly amongst children, has been placed squarely at the feet of those magnificent golden arches.

Ronald McDonald is bearing the weight of all the fat people in the world. That has to hurt.

I say: what about the parents? What about personal responsibility? What about putting the fork down and walking away?

That aside, fast food has its place. This truism becomes particularly apparent if and when you find yourself on the road. We’d all like to have the time and money to be eating at Claridges, The Fat Duck or even Nandos for each and every meal, but, let’s face it, that’s probably not going to happen. Not that any of those places is going to provide you with a meal that’s any lower in fat or calories. The point is, everybody is on a budget some of the time, and that’s where McDonalds, and its siblings (KFC, Burger King and Subway), step up.

They’re cheap.
