@ Barbara - thank you, too. And congrats on your own weight loss! :)

Yes, I think you may be on to something about 'the dots' - certainly to advance personal development one has to try and make sense of it all (or as much as possible). Is anything truly random? It may appear that way in any one-off event but if you analyse it against what came before and afterwards one can probably see a broader picture emerging in which you had greater control and choices than you perhaps imagined.

I do firmly believe that running/physical fitness teaches the body to push beyond its early limits which encourages the mind to do the same. Naturally, one cannot advance without reading, reading, reading. And then reading some more!

Thanks for your thoughts,
Sheamus

@ Hannah - thanks! You'll be pleased to know that day #4 is safely in the bag. :)

I think you should absolutely get cracking on that dream. I believe a marathon, and training for it, is within everyone's capabilities. Take it one step at a time - as I'm trying to do myself (as above) - and when you get to the actual race, literally do that: just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and you'll win.

And this is a perfect time for you to utilise the '28 Days Later' program to kick-start your progress. Do a blog about it! Running blogs are very inspirational to people who have ambitions like yours but don't know how to begin.

And then I'll be checking out how you get on...! :D

The REAL secret to life is:

Everything happens for a reason. You might not know now, or 2 weeks from now, or next year, or in the next decade, or 20 years from now....but at sometime in your life, you'll be able to connect the dots regarding the challenges thru which you go.

And congrats on your weight loss! I lost 50 odd pounds from 12/06 until now and they'll never come back! It's a great feeling to achieve that goal.

Best wishes,

Barbara

Best of luck with the training.

I've always haboured an ambition to run a marathon; (for no reason to be honest; just one of those things I'd like to be able to say I've done).

I think your approach sounds really sensible; and it's made me think again about my own (albeit slightly day-dreamy) ambition.

I'll be checking out how you get on :)
